Phew.

The end of the old, the beginning of the new. I am ready for about 12 years of vacation, but seeing as how I am in the throes of my thirties, I don't know if that's going to be an option for oh, I don't know, another thirty years or so.

Went back to Boston yesterday for the day, for work at the publisher. Those people are so great. And I love how in synch everyone is. I hadn't been there for 2 weeks, and even though I spent 4 hours getting there and 4 hours getting home, I was only *in* the office for 5 hours! And I got everything done! So much so that I don't have much to do between now and next Tuesday.... pending some numbers that I am waiting for from a vendor. There's plenty of other stuff to do though. Stuff for mine & Mr. G's business, reading some franchising info, cleaning the house, exercising, knitting.....

Ah, yes. Knitting. My new obsession.
I have five friends who are all having babies in the first half of next year. And there are more that are trying to get with child-this guarantees that I will have arthritis by the end of 2004. So I am knitting baby blankets like crazy. They are very sweet though. A little "homemade" looking, but that counts, right? I think so. This first one is pretty organic looking, so I might keep it when it's done and do another one for the first baby due. The first is always a trial.

Tonight we're doing two things with two different sets of friends. First we're headed to a fondue party that I have been told will be "really informal". I am bringing cookies and maybe a salad if I can get it together. Then we have dinner reservations with another set of friends and their friends who are visiting. We're so poop-ulah! And we get to have two dinners! Will have to make sure I don't overdo it in either place.

MIL is being *crazy*. Like, beyond crazy. I think she's teetering on the brink of becoming a new person - not in the good way, in the way that the new personality strips away the old and is endowed with some extra crazy, just for fun. I guess the Demon Seed (what we call the grandmother) called and said that the youngest sister is in the hospital, and that Demon Seed was worried that it was hepititis or meningitis or something, since one of those -itis diseases is rearing it's head in the state that Mr. G. comes from and where his family still lives. Well, we thought that the MIL was down south visiting Demon Seed. So I tried to call both sisters, neither answered her cell, and we don't know what the heck is going on. Wouldn't put it past MIL to make something into a big deal in order to get Mr. G. to call. We'll see what happens, I guess. He's content to not be in touch, and I have to make that ok with me too. It's challenging....

OK, enough with her. My parents left yesterday, they are so excited to get down south to play some golf! Can't say that's my preferred method of relaxing, but hey, it's their thing, and I am happy for them. It is also my mom's 59th birthday, so please join with me when I say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!!" She is a wonderful woman and I hope you all have someone out there who is as wonderful to you as my mom has been for me throughout my life. She's an inspiration for me to be a mom and do something wonderful for someone else.

You all have a great new year, and be safe. It's not so much what you do, just what the other crazies out there are doing. See you next year. Here's to a great 2004!

Am I a Bad Mom?

Found the dogs' holiday ribbons - green for Riley, red for Darwin. However, I found them on 12/28. A little late. Do I leave them on for the next 360-whatever days? Or just count it as a loss and wait til next year (and be sure to store them with the holiday stuff)? My god, what is going to happen when I have kids? I do know they won't get the pink and blue treatment. Black all the way, baby!

P.S. the cat boxes are done. thank god. those cats are pretty productive.

First things first.... is this thing working?
This is a new adventure for me, I've been reading other blogs for a while now and have decided that perhaps the rest of the world would like to read about me.
My name is Jenn, I live in Vermont with my husband of 4 years, Mr. G., our two dogs Riley (a.k.a. Oze or Dee Dee, just a smattering of her alter egos) and Darwin (a.k.a. Doopa-do or Mr. Guy, a couple of HIS nicknames), and our four cats, Kiko, Juniper, Little Puss and Belly. Oh, and my parents, who have been living with us for two weeks but they head south tomorrow. Mr. G. and I have our own graphic design and print production company—he's the creative, I'm the print buyer and business gal and we both do sales but hate to do them. The company is just over 2 years old and is doing well. I also work for a publisher in Boston doing their production scheduling and print buying. And I'm trying to get some things published (wrong genre for the publisher that I work for, unfortunately).

What else do you like to see here? I'll try and be less boring in the future, I'm just in the ramping up stages and since it's the holiday week when there's not much commerce happening and I am also putting off cleaning the cat boxes, I thought I would get started with the intro stuff.

I'll be back!
